Call dive shops in your area to see if they certify instructors. The YMCA may be the cheapest but PADI and NAUI are better recognized world wide. Are you a dive master? If not, you’ll have to take the certifications that are precursors to becoming an instructor. It isn’t the cost of instruction that will get you it’s the insurance.
You’ll have to shop around. Different dive shops that teach through the same source such as PADI or NAUI can have different prices.
South American resorts seem to offer instruction at a cheaper price than US Dive shops.
