One Response to “What Should I Look For In Buying Bcd And Regulator Scuba Package?”

  1. For BC’s, comfort and fit are biggies. Where do you plan on going with your diving education?
What type of BC did you wear for you certification?
I’m betting you wore a jacket BC, as they seem to be a common training BC. (The BC inflated both at the back and waist)
Was it comfortable? If you found it too constraining at the waist, a back inflate BC may be more to your liking.
If you plan on getting into technical diving at any point in your diving, you would be better off purchasing a Back plate / wing combo. 99.9% of technical divers wear this style of BC. Many recreational divers also use it, preferring the simplicity of the design. It consists of a stainless steel or aluminum plate, with a bladder attached. A simple strap system with d-rings is most common with this set up.
It’s all going to boil down to what’s comfortable to YOU. I’ve always prefered a back inflate. My wife, who’s my buddy most of the time, prefers a jacket style.
Regulators also fit into the same mold. That said, whichever regulator you buy, you’ll want to be sure you can have it serviced locally.
