Alot of divers love diving at Koh Tao..a small island near Koh Samui and Koh Phangan… There are many diving groups on Koh Tao..(eg.Ban’s diving resort) or check out http://www.amazingkohtao.com and cost wise all depends how long you want to stay and which resort and do you have certificate, some dive courses you will get free accomodation and some of the bungalows you really need to do a dive course to stay with them.. Price would start from 3000 Baht but could go up to 10,000 depending on how many dives but remember Koh Tao is all about diving and is a little remote sometimes they get blackouts in storms and in worst case scenerios people have to be evacuated to nearby Samui in very bad storms… One other place alot of ppl like to go diving is in the Krabi provence over the other side of the penninsular on an Island called Koh Phi Phi( made famous by the movie “the beach”)…and I’m sure there are other small Islands scattered around that would be great for diving but the two I’ve mentioned are the most common and talked about for diving.. all the best

TRY KOH TOH next island from hippy koh phanyan and chilled.
cant remember costs. Note take a cammel (ie waterbag you can keep in a freezer … chilled drink all day.
Diving stuff is not cheaper there.
And nice bars between huts and town… esp one on a hill.
Also note dogs maybe territorial but invisible as same colours as sand. Best walk in a pair or know how to handle dogs.
also look at http://www.tigertemple.co.uk (and look up the temple of the tigers on the net.
    VERY IMPORTANT TIP…
DO NOT NOT GET VIP COACHES FROM TOURIST PLACES OR TATS OR ESP KAO SAN RAOD.
ONLY TRAINS FROM TRAIN STATIONS, BUSSES/IE COACH FROM OFFICAL BUS STOPS ——————-(SERIOUSLY YOU WONT SAVE MONEY EVEN IF IT LOOKS LIKE IT AND HAVE AN AWFUL TRIP) OR PLANE.

I dived Sail Rock on a trip from Koh Phagnan a couple of years ago. Can’t remember the exact price but it was pretty cheap. Great dive site. Water was 30 degrees at 25 metres. You can swim down ‘the chimney’ which is a vertical tunnel through the rock going down from around 2 metres to 17 or 18. It’s pretty cool. Only downside was getting my fins chomped on by an aggrieved trigger fish.

    in some water.

Do a Similan Islands liveaboard for 4 days – the Similan Islands are renown as one of the best places to dive in the world, and definitely the best place to dive in Thailand. You can do day trips to the Similans but it’s a lot of effort – much more fun to do a liveaboard. Prices depend on how much luxury you want – I’ve dived several times with http://www.phuket-diving-safaris.com who do a 4 day liveaboard for around $US550 including all scuba gear, food etc
