What is more dangerous: scuba diving or hiking?

I know in scuba diving you can get eaten by a shark and hiking.. well the grizzly & black bears.. or mountain lions etc.

So if you were tp choose, what would you rather do?

I would go Scuba Diving any day of the week. Could you please quote a source where someone was eaten by a shark while diving? I’ve never heard of such a thing. I’ll bet thousands of more people per year get injured or die hiking than scuba diving during any given year.

I can find less than 100 deaths per year from people scuba diving. Which sounds about right. I’ve never heard anyone getting eating my a shark or any animal for that matter, while diving:

There are WAY more deaths related to hiking each year. Just in the Grand Canyon alone, there are an average of 5 deaths per year. Globally there are thousands of deaths.

You need no training or education to go hiking. To go scuba diving, you need education, training, and you need to be certified. This doesn’t mean there are not stupid people out there that get into trouble while diving. What it does mean, is that on average, someone who scuba diving knows much more about their environment than someone hiking.

Bottom line, hiking and scuba diving are both FAR safer than sitting under a palm tree. Many many people die per years from falling coconuts. :)

Scuba Diving! If you come up too fast your lungs will explode, if you don’t take a safety stop, you could get sick and die from nitrogen bubbles and you could get eaten my a shark. A hike, you can fall off the top of the mountain and not die.

you are more likely to get attacked by a mountain lion than a shark. GO SCUBA DIVING!
