What is a good and cheap set up for quality underwater photography?

I am looking for inexpensive ways to capture photos underwater. Is there a housing available for my Canon AE-1 or another SLR?
I’m not looking for a little point-and-shoot camera.

   There are housings available for almost all SLR cameras … but they are very expensive. Ikelite is one of the oldest and best known maker of these housings
