Scuba Diving on the Salt Dome. This is on the Contenental Shelf about 60 miles South of Pascagoula, Mississippi. It rises to a depth of 195′ from about 485′. Good Abundance of Amberjack and Sharks. It is 30 miles north of the Horizon Oil Spill Incident. This is the closest diveable spot to the Horizon Oil Spill besides Rig VK-817. I have also seen this spot called “Flat Top” as part of the Gulf Pi…

Want to buy an underwater digital camera. In your opinion, what is the best all around camera? Will be used for snorkeling and different adventures, no major photography. Just a good camera needed.
I want to get an amazing underwater digital camera, I love photography and don’t want to have to worry about the camera getting wet. I also would love it to have as good a zoom and picture quality possible. I really like the Canon Powershot d10, but it is so bulky and I’m scared that if I buy it, a new, better camera will come out. I don’t need a new camera until summer 2010, do you know if there will be a new model of an underwater camera coming out?!
All these under water camera cases are too expensive, and I can’t buy cheap ones online because my parents are paranoid of online purchasing.
So…I was wondering if my “recipe” would work okay for underwater photography?
Take a ziplock double zip thing bag (those freezer bag sizes) and insert camera. Seal bag after pushing all air out. Put second larger bag over the ziplock double zip bag and also seal air tight.
Do you think it’ll work okay? I really don’t care if the image quality is affected by the bag. I just want it underwater….o.o
I am fairly new to underwater photography. I have an older Sea & Sea Dx 5000g setup, but unfortunately the battery leaked while in the camera. Camera still works but has tons of issues. So I am looking for a new setup and was wondering if it is better to get another complete camera package from somebody like Sea & Sea or get a housing made for something like a Nikon coolpix.
Price wise it would definitely seem better to get a housing for a Nikon or something as the camera itself is rather cheap to replace versus a camera replacement from Sea & Sea(about $500 for a 10 MP)
I’ve always loved being underwater and I used to swim for the Yorkshire Synchronised Swimming Team. I then found work as a school art assistant but now I’m looking for a career change. I quite fancy becoming an underwater photographer for babies. The problem is, ive no idea where to start. I’ve searched the internet for underwater photography courses but can only find 1 or 2 day workshops which isnt enough if I want to make a career out of it. Is it worth me doing a full-time photography course first and then leading on to the underwater pics?
