Photography underwater. Where to shoot?

I have an idea about taking some photos in a swimming pool. But do not own one. I don’t like the idea of people being around me and my camera if i were to go in a public pool. Maybe this is a long shot, but where on earth, not really anywhere, more like michigan. Where in michigan would i be able to take photographs alone, in a pool. Or maybeee, if the water in a lake or something is safe, no, i prefer the idea of a pool.

Can you “rent” out a pool for a day…?
Other ideas?
Thanks.

Do you have a friend with a pool? Ask him/her if you could use it for the day. Say that you need it for a project for work or school or something
What about the beach? A calm beach with small or no waves would be perfect. It would probably also be fairly unpopulated because most people go to beaches with bigger waves for surfing etc.
Book a hotel for the day? About 90% of good hotels have at least one swimming pool + spa

For underwater photography, lighting is 10 times more important than from normal photography. And for normal photography, lighting is the single most important factor you deal with. So in short, unless you’re going to spend a lot of money, it may not be worth the effort.

It is very difficult to find natural surface water clear enough to take a decent picture. Most of the underwater photographs that are supper cool have been in the ocean away from the shore. What makes a photograph interesting is it’s environment. Swimming pool photos can be pretty boring due to the monotony of the color of the bottom and sides of the pool. Taking photos at an aquarium can be interesting and challenging.
