Is there an underwater housing made to fit the Sony a500 DSLR camera?

I have the Sony a500 DSLR and I’m looking into doing underwater photography. I can only find housings for the a380. The bodies are very similar but I don’t know about the buttons and controls. If you can offer any help I would appreciate it.

  1. deep blue2 says:

Rigid underwater housings (which is what you will need if you are going more than a few metres depth) are specifically built for a particular camera model, so that the buttons & controls on the outside mirror the buttons & controls on the camera body.

I will have a look at a couple of suppliers I use & post further later. Expect to pay about twice the cost of your camera for an underwater housing only. You then have to add ports & strobes -underwater photography with a DSLR is not cheap!

You also need to maintain the O rings before each dive.

If you do get a housing, I always suggest that you take it for a trial run – empty (no cmaera) – in a pool & press all the buttons & then check for leaks.
