Invisalign question: Can/should I wear my invisalign while scuba diving?

Well, I’m going on this trip to Florida next week and I will be scuba diving on it and wondered if I had to take my invisalign out during scuba diving. I just got invisalign 3 days ago, and forgot to ask my orthodonist. Do I wear them while I scuba dive? Thanks!!!

well i live in florida.. soo it depends. if you will be using a mouth-piece it should be fine because they wont really be in the water..

I did probably over 400 dives (including divemaster and instructor training) while doing my 84 weeks of invisalign treatment. I had no issues.

Best case scenario, you have no issues.

Possible Issue #1 – there is an air pocket between your teeth and the tray. Put up with it during your dive (or pop out the trays underwater), pop out the trays after the dive, go on the next dive without the trays.

Possible Issue #2 – the tray hangs up on the regulator mouthpiece. Check this out before the dive. Can you remove the mouthpiece without issues? If there is a concern, just pop out the trays.

According to my orthodontist, he was hoping that I would wear the trays 20+ hours per day. So that is 4 hours without the trays. Figure 1 hour for dinner, 30 minutes for lunch, 30 minutes for breakfast, that leave 2 other random hours. Pop them out for the dives if you have concerns.
