How To Carry Scuba Tank In Boot/trunk Of Car?

I have a car that is new and has leather seats. I have also recently taken up scuba diving.
I want to be able to carry the scuba tank in the boot/trunk of the car, not in the actual car itself for fear of damaging its interior.
Is there some easy way to secure the tank in the boot/trunk of the car so that it stays in one place?

There are ready made, foam tank racks that you can purchase at most dive shops if you want to spend the money. Most divers will simply put the tanks in the trunk length wise and use their dive lead as wedges on either sides of the tanks if they use integrated lead or drape their belt over the tanks with some hunks of lead wedging the sides. Have the tank bottoms facing the rear and against the vehicle so that acceleration doesn’t cause them to move. Some will argue that they don’t want the tank valve pointed towards the passenger compartment in case of a crash, but a tank valve popping is going to be the least of your worries at that point and your average braking forces aren’t going to cause the tank to slide forward, striking the valve. You can always place something soft, like a gear bag, there to prevent that.
