  1. I believe if you’re under 18 you have to get parental permission via signed paperwork and all that jazz. But finding a school shouldn’t be too hard; use google or yellow pages and seach for SCUBA shops in your area. Most SCUBA shops offer classes, or will know where to find them at the least. The class itself is not very difficult. Its been awhile since I went through mine, but I believe it lasted around 6wks, and I’d go like 2 nights a week, or something. I think Classes are around $3-400, but they provide all the gear. Once you’re certified, you are for life; although you can get higher certifications, which will allow you to dive deeper and in different conditions, the more you dive. When browsing for classes, try to get in one that is SSI (SCUBA Schools International) approved; they often provide better training.
