Can You Put Your Scuba Knife In Your Carry On Luggage?

I am flying to Florida to do some scuba diving but I’m only bringing a carry on. Can I put my scuba knife in my carry on or do I have to buy one when I get to Florida. I’m flying through Continental if that makes any difference? Thanks.

Buy or rent the equipment when you get there. I only carry my BCD and regulator nothing more.

I know for a fact – the answer is NO – you cannot take dive knife in your carry on luggage. You can have it as part of checked in luggage. It has ben this way for last 11 years I have been diving.
I personally had it in my carry on once – because I forgot, and grabbed it at the last minute as I headed out to the airport. Anyway they would not let me through. I had enough time, so I went back to airlines counter, and checked it in – they put it in a little box and gave me a luggage tag for it.
So there you go. Happy scuba diving.

Nope. Can’t take it on your carry on. I have 1st hand experience. I had a small leatherman multi-tool on my key chain and they made me ship it to myself for a small fee, rather then take it on the plane. It was no more then an inch and a half long in size.
A side note is that SF Airport didn’t catch it. It wasn’t until I was returning from Houston that they caught me with it.
I just got back from the Bahamas and recently traveled to La Paz. both times I had a large knife in my luggage that was checked and had no issues.
If you want to bring a knife put it in your checked luggage. Don’t try to carry it on. Might give them a reason to strip search you. lol

Nope. Definitely can’t take that in your carry-on. I dive as well and I know that would never ever get through security without being confiscated. And those things can get pretty expensive.
I don’t really use a knife unless I’m going through areas with tall seaweed or areas known for a lot of fishing. Otherwise, you don’t really need it.
