Best camera for filming underwater?

I shot a music video completely underwater about 8 months ago that turned out amazing! (you can view it here: http://www.lx-goods.com/videos/blorr_seven_sisters/). We shot it entirely on one canon 7D camera with an underwater housing unit that was costly to rent. I want to do some inexpensive photography underwater for a new project and wondered if anyone has a decent and inexpensive option for shooting underwater?

I have heard good things about the Canon D10 http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/605229-REG/Canon_3508B001_PowerShot_D10_Digital_Camera.html

If I had the money though (~$6,000-$8,000), I would go with a DSLR underwater case/lens port/lighting system like you rented. That’s one of the reasons I haven’t taken up scuba diving….I would want to take my camera with me and I can’t afford the shell.

Maybe you will find some help there … :-)

The Canon PowerShot D10 is a rugged waterproof / shockproof / freezeproof camera based around a 1/2.3-inch 12.1-megapixel CCD image sensor, DIGIC 4 image processor, and a Canon-branded 3x optical zoom lens. The Canon D10′s lens offers focal lengths ranging from a 35mm wide-angle to a 105mm telephoto, and features true optical image stabilization. Maximum aperture varies from f/2.8 to f/4.9 across the zoom range, and macro focusing is possible to just three centimeters. Continuous shooting is possible at 1.1 frames per second, and the PowerShot D10 can be operated at depths up to 33 feet underwater, is shockproof for falls from up to four feet, and freezeproof to 14 degrees Fahrenheit.
