Any scuba diving tips for first time?

I’m going scuba diving for the first time, and I was wondering (harder to ask questions to instructor, since hes foriegn)
At a depth of 5 meters (16 feet):
Do I need to worry about the bends?
pressure of my ears?
compressed air expanding in lungs?
any other tips?

Jack off before you go diving, it will make you swim faster.

Omg control your breathing. Learn how to use the oxygen tank and dont breathe like you regularly would especially through your nose OUCH!. Because I often took up alot of water in my mouth AND nose because I was so confused. And if you think you’re gonna have trouble with that try not to go too deep out into the water where you don’t have access to the boat. And keep your lips wrapped around the tube tight so that you won’t inhale saltwater. Any other questions definetly ask the tour guy on the boat he should give you a chance to ask and have fun!

your going to wear a mask the first thing i have to tell you is do not ever never!!!!! breath in or out of your nose in your mask, the problem is that the pressure down there is so high it can push your eyes literally in and it will hurt like hell, never do this this is how most people die. second is always check your oxygen level before and after diving to see what mirght have broken because u can say thats wrong ill check its next time and forget about it. always check your equipment. ALWAYS

at 16 feet i don’t think you need to worry about the bends or compressed air expanding in your lungs. I have been certified for about 13 months. Remember to pop your ears it is important. go up and down slowly because im not certain about the compressed air. relax before you dive because if you don’t you will freak out. Hope you have a fun time!!! A really cool place to dive is off the coast of Florida. When I went there I saw a ton of sea creatures including turtles and eels!!

Never ever hold your breath. You do need to worry about compressed air expanding in lungs. Even at 16 feet you can rupture the lung membranes.

You will have a slight pressure on your ears, simply swallow/ wiggle your jaw/ gently blow through your nose while pinched.

You will likely not have to worry about the bends at 16 feet, especially while instructed.

other tips include. Breathe normally through the mouth piece. Find out what equipment you may need to bring such as fins or a snorkel mask.

Also, when scuba diving keep the regulator (mouthpiece) in your mouth at all times unless swimming on the surface.

i’s easy to dive at a depth of 5 meters!

    don’t forget: BREATH (always)

As long as you are with an instructor and he is certified, you don’t have to worry too much. Just do it at your comfortable pace, don’t hesitate to let him know if you are not ready or having a trouble.

But regarding that your instructor is foreign, probably you’d want to ask for a replacement? :D Seriously, diving is supposed to be fun, so get rid of everything of potential trouble.
